Rebecca first joined OJEN to complete her BSW practicum placement from September 2016 to April 2017. During her time at OJEN, she went above and beyond her placement requirements. At the end of her placement, Rebecca took the lead and planned, coordinated, and facilitated two successful mock trial programs on her own, using the skills learned during her time at OJEN. Thanks to her contribution, OJEN was recognized by the City of Toronto\u2019s Parks, Forestry and Recreation with an award in Community Education. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
During both her first and second years at Queens Law School, Rebecca balanced the demands of first year classes with volunteer commitments at OJEN. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the 2017-2018 school year, Rebecca took on the lead co-ordinator role with the Architects to Justice Program<\/strong>. This is a public engagement initiative organized by The Action Group on Access to Justice (TAG) in partnership with OJEN. It aims to increase public participation in the development of informed access to justice responses. Rebecca organized volunteers and participated as a student researcher surveying people in public places about their experience of access to justice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n In the 2018-2019 school year, Rebecca sat on the newly formed Kingston OJEN committee and was actively involved in planning for its first project – a law symposium for high school students.
