{"id":16167,"date":"2019-09-26T13:39:53","date_gmt":"2019-09-26T17:39:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ojen.ca\/?p=16167"},"modified":"2019-09-26T13:41:02","modified_gmt":"2019-09-26T17:41:02","slug":"top-five-cases-of-2018-now-available-online","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ojen2024.turnbull.co\/en\/top-five-cases-of-2018-now-available-online","title":{"rendered":"Top Five Cases of 2018 now Available Online"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>One of the highlights of the Toronto Summer Law Institute each year, is a presentation by a judge about five significant cases that have recently appeared before the Court of Appeal for Ontario.&nbsp; The judge explains what makes the cases interesting from an educational perspective, offering his insight and observations. Each year OJEN produces a teaching resource based on these Top Five Cases.&nbsp; It consists of a case summary, background information on the issues, the decision and reasons for the decision, and suggested discussion questions for the class. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Top Five Cases of 2018 have recently been posted\non the OJEN website.&nbsp; They include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n&nbsp; <ul>\n<li>Law Society of British Columbia v Trinity Western University<\/li>\n<li>Rankin (Rankin&#8217;s Garage and Sales) v J.J.<\/li>\n<li>Groia v Law Society of Upper Canada<\/li>\n<li>Williams Lake Indian Band v Canada<\/li>\n<li>R. v Bingley<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Top Five cases are relevant to Constitutional and\nCharter Law and a variety of other grade 11 and 12 law topics.&nbsp; Check out the <a href=\"https:\/\/ojen2024.turnbull.co\/en\/resource\/top-five-2018\">Top Five of 2018<\/a>\nhere.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One of the highlights of the Toronto Summer Law Institute each year, is a presentation by a judge about five significant cases that have recently appeared before the Court of Appeal for Ontario.&nbsp; The judge explains what makes the cases interesting from an educational perspective, offering his insight and observations.
