{"id":16486,"date":"2019-10-15T12:15:17","date_gmt":"2019-10-15T16:15:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ojen.ca\/?p=16486"},"modified":"2019-10-15T15:12:50","modified_gmt":"2019-10-15T19:12:50","slug":"steps-to-justice-employment-law-module","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ojen2024.turnbull.co\/en\/steps-to-justice-employment-law-module","title":{"rendered":"Steps to Justice \u2013 Employment Law Module"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Can employers force their employees to work on public holidays?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If your job requires a uniform, can the employer make you\npay for it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What can you do if you think you have been fired from your\njob unfairly?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These are a few of the questions explored in the Steps to\nJustice Employment Law workshop now available on the OJEN website.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Using hypothetical scenarios to guide their inquiries, students\nnavigate CLEO\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/stepstojustice.ca\/\">Steps to Justice website<\/a>\nto find answers to the legal questions posed.&nbsp;\nWhile researching Employment Law, students also build legal capability by\nlearning how to access practical legal information on some of the most\ncommonly-experienced legal problems.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Steps to Justice is a plain language website, written and\nmaintained by lawyers. It provides reliable, up-to-date information for Ontario\nresidents facing a variety of legal problems.&nbsp;\nIt walks the user through the legal steps they need to follow and\nincludes links to relevant legal forms, self-help guides, definitions of\ncomplicated legal terms and referral information for legal and social services.\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Steps to Justice Employment Law Module comes with\nPowerPoint classroom presentation, student work sheets, six different\nemployment law scenarios and a facilitator\u2019s guide and answer sheet.&nbsp; The guide provides detailed instructions on\nhow to deliver the workshop. Additional information with tips and information\nfor presenters, can be found on a short training video available on the <a href=\"ojen.ca\/steps-to-justice-workshops-training-video\">OJEN website<\/a>. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Modules dealing with family law, domestic violence and\nabuse, housing law, criminal law and others will be posted in the near future.&nbsp; Watch for new Steps to Justice modules in the\nresources section of our website.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Can employers force their employees to work on public holidays?
