Since the beginning of the\nyear, Director of Educator Support, Nat Paul, has visited the Ontario Institute\nfor Studies in Education (OISE) and the Faculties of Education at Lakehead\nUniversity in Thunder Bay and Brock University in St. Catharines. &nbsp;Approximately 70 new teachers had the\nopportunity to become familiar with two of OJEN\u2019s most popular teaching\nresources \u2013 The Access to Justice Game and the Steps to Justice Workshops.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"667\" src=\"https:\/\/ojen2024.turnbull.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/IMG_88901000px.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17895\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ojen2024.turnbull.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/IMG_88901000px.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/ojen2024.turnbull.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/IMG_88901000px-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ojen2024.turnbull.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/IMG_88901000px-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The &nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ojen2024.turnbull.co\/en\/resource\/access-to-justice-game\"><strong>Access to Justice Game<\/strong><\/a>, is an interactive classroom lesson that highlights the challenges Ontarians face as they try to resolve legal problems. The game offers a practical and fun way to learn about a serious social issue while developing skills and knowledge that build legal capability. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Steps to Justice Workshops<\/strong> use <a href=\"https:\/\/stepstojustice.ca\/\">Community Legal Education Ontario\u2019s website<\/a> of the same name to give students experience accessing practical legal information on some of the most commonly experienced legal problems.&nbsp; Whether or not the teacher candidates go on to teach law or some other subject, Steps to Justice is a great resource to direct students to for reliable legal information in the future.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/ojen2024.turnbull.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/IMG_8865-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17899\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ojen2024.turnbull.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/IMG_8865-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/ojen2024.turnbull.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/IMG_8865-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ojen2024.turnbull.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/IMG_8865-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c<em>It\nis always positive to meet with people at the beginning of their careers and\nstart to form a relationship with them<\/em>,\u201d Nat explains.&nbsp; Of the approximately 70 teacher candidates,\nonly two had heard about OJEN prior to attending the PD session.&nbsp; Both the teacher candidates and their\nprofessors learned about the more than 200 free resources and the numerous\nCourtrooms and Classrooms programs offered at <a href=\"https:\/\/ojen2024.turnbull.co\">www.ojen.ca<\/a>.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>OJEN\u2019s Educator Support Department plans to\nvisit all of the faculties of education in Ontario throughout the year.&nbsp; <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Educator Support staff are on the road introducing OJEN\u2019s free resources and services to faculties of education across Ontario.&nbsp; In a year when labour action restricts teachers\u2019 ability to attend professional development sessions, OJEN has refocused our attention on teacher candidates.
