We are pleased to announce that the finalists of the first entirely francophone Charter Challenge<\/a> are Camille Gilbert and Zo\u00e9 Serra from ESC Renaissance in Aurora and Conrad B. Pich\u00e9 from ESC St Charles Garnier in Whitby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a reminder, 391 students participated in this exciting program, representing 28 schools (Sault Ste Marie (x2), Richmond Hill (x2), Toronto (x4), Whitby , Ottawa, Aurora, Hearst, Penetanguishene, Sarnia, Kitchener, Orleans (x2), Dieppe, Hamilton (x5), Mattawa, Espanola, Embrun, Kanata & Stittville), 11 school boards (New Ontario (x3), Viamonde (x6) , Mon Avenir (x8), CECCE (x4), CSCDGR, Providence, District scolaire francophone sud, Franco-Nord, CSDCEO, CEPEO & TDSB) and even two Provinces (Ontario and New Brunswick)!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the extreme difficulty of the exercise, 76 students completed the project and submitted a factum. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The facta were carefully reviewed by lawyers Juliana Martel, Emma Haydon, Anya.Kortenaar, Ninetta Caparelli, Stephen Albers, Alexia Bystrzycki, Davin Garg, Danielle Carbonneau, Ria Guidone, Christian Petit-Fr\u00e8re and Diana Mazzotta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the appellant side, the jury picked Conrad B. Pich\u00e9 from ESC St Charles Garnier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the defendant side, there were five standout facta, which were the work of the following teams: Hadiya Said Raveena Iyathurai Tabitha Nsangu and Kiyara Dahane from ES Etienne Br\u00fbl\u00e9, Camille Gilbert and Zo\u00e9 Serra from ESC Renaissance, S\u00e9bastien Khoury from ESC Renaissance, Amam\u00e9lys B\u00fchler and Genevi\u00e8ve Ouellette from ESC Embrun and Matya Mosley, Kate Rabideau and Cheyenne Baalbaki from ESC Saint Fran\u00e7ois Xavier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sarah Gagnon, Superior Court of Justice law clerk in Ottawa and Taylor Wormington, Ontario Court of Appeal law clerk in Toronto picked Camille Gilbert and Zo\u00e9 Serra from ESC Renaissance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Congratulations to the finalists, to all the participants and to their teachers who deserve the highest praise for doing such a great job under such difficult conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thank you very much to the clerks and lawyers who volunteered to help us running this program and without whom nothing would have been possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And of course, kudos to our Francophone Youth Leadership Team<\/a> which, in the middle of a global pandemic, was able to make this first D\u00e9fi de la Charte an unprecedented success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
