Every year, grade 5 students from around the province take part in OJEN\u2019s Poster Challenge Program. Working with their teachers and with OJEN materials to learn about the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms<\/em>, the students choose the Charter right that means the most to them and design beautiful posters that represent why that right matters for everyone in Canada!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2022 winner of the OJEN Poster Challenge in the Central East Region is Valerie from St Charles Garnier in Richmond Hill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All of the elements drawn have been beautifully integrated and expressed, so that they flow well together. While many posters demonstrate a lot of written content reflective of the Charter, this poster stands out because of its focus on images and symbolism. With its incredibly detailed drawings and well-thought out design, it\u2019s very captivating!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This poster is really beautiful and original, exploring different ideas that we usually see in the Poster Challenge. Drawings neatly illustrate the text in a quite striking manner, weaving a very interesting narrative. It also includes minority language rights, which is a part of the Charter that is unfortunately too often ignored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
