Hamilton committee<\/a> organized its inaugural Twitter Moot to celebrate Law Day (a national event to commemorate the signing of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms<\/i>). The committee has been offering this popular initiative to students in the region ever since.<\/p>\nStudents have debated these questions: To what extent should students be held accountable for negative online behaviour? Does screening a student\u2019s person, belongings or electronic devices while at school violate the student\u2019s legal rights? And should administrative segregation (solitary confinement) be outlawed in Canada?<\/p>\n
Students participate individually or in teams during class hours to voice their opinion and engage in thoughtful dialogue with other students from across Hamilton.<\/p>\n
The Twitter Moot offers students a fun opportunity to learn about law and focus on a legal issue relevant to them.
