Her Majesty the Queen"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This resource, originally from the OJEN Fall 2008 Charter Challenge, deals with an application by Lt. Andrea Redwing to declare a navy policy which only allows men to apply for a particular position aboard a submarine as unconstitutional. Lt. Redwing challenged the policy on the grounds that it violated her equality rights under ss. 15(1), 15(2) and 28 of the <em>Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms<\/em>. This resource includes the trial level decision, which provides the basis for the appeal, as well as a factum template.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the Charter Challenge<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As Ontario&#8217;s only provincial appellate-level mock hearing, the&nbsp;<a href=\"\/program\/charter-challenge\" target=\"_blank\">Charter Challenge<\/a>&nbsp;has students prepare arguments of&nbsp;<em>Charter<\/em>&nbsp;issues raised on appeal. While researching their arguments, students have the opportunity to connect online with other students around the province, as well as with lawyer mentors.
